  • Chairman welcome note

    Dear ICBHI 2024 participants,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Tainan, and the 6th International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (ICBHI 2024).

It is expected that ICBHI 2024 will catalyze the personal health systems development methodology, and thus achieve convergence and integration mechanisms of the main scientific areas for the enabling of precision medicine. There is a high demand for managing new findings and ICT capabilities as well as integrating competencies and thematic areas, which are essential in biomedical and health informatics.

I would like to thank the IFMBE Digital Health Division (DHD) for the excellent work and expertise committed to the organization of the ICBHI 2024.

    Confucius Temple Cultural Park

The “Premier Academy of Taiwan” (全台首學) has more than three hundred years of history as a Confucian temple, and it would be safe to say that this place is the heart of Tainan as an ancient capital of culture. The seemingly impenetrable red wall which stretches along Nanmen Road (南門路) is of sacred appearance in the sunlight, and embodies the unique charm of the ancient city of Tainan, which has this historical Confucian temple sitting at its heart. Linking together old blocks and historic sites such as the Great South Gate (大南門), Fuzhong Street (府中街) and the Koxinga Shrine (延平郡王祠,) the streets and alleys around it have an ancient air.

    Anping Old Fort(安平古堡)

A combined Dutch military and commercial force captured modern day Anping in 1624, and built Fort Zeelandia(熱蘭遮城) as its defensive stronghold, which was completed in 1634. In 1662, Koxinga successfully took the Dutch fort back, and changed the name to Anping. The inner fort became the seat of government for Taiwan, and so it was known by Taiwanese as King's Fort. During the Qing Dynasty, excessive silting of the Taijiang shore gradually reduced the fort's importance, and it was neglected after being damaged by Qing soldiers who took building materials for the building of Eternal Golden Castle.

    Little West Gate

Little West Gate was first erected in 1775 during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor and was originally called Qingshui Gate (Clear Water Gate). Today's Little West Gate was built in 1788 when the city walls were replaced with earth walls and named Jingpo Gate. It was demolished and relocated to the campus of National Cheng Kung University in 1970 when road widening took place.
